Rice is bordered on the east by Little Rock Lake, which offers excellent campsites, fishing opportunities and a very beautiful beach and recreation area. A channel connects Little Rock Lake with the Mississippi River, which runs along the western city limits of Rice. A recently developed boat landing on the channel offers access to both Little Rock Lake and the Mississippi River.

The city has facilities for a vast array of recreation activities. The base of these activities start with the community ice rink, softball fields, Bend in the River Park, and the bike trails, which are enjoyed by citizens of all ages.

The Rice area is recognized as a productive hunting area. It is also proud to have its own game preserve, where you will find deer hunting at its finest.

For avid golfers, the local 18 hole golf course and driving range,Oak Hill Golf Club, is a chance for a fun and relaxing round of golf. In addition to the local golf course, many of Central Minnesota's other fine golf courses are within a 20 minute drive.

On the edge of Rice, where the Mississippi and Platte Rivers converge, you will find Two Rivers Campgrounds, which has camping, recreational activities and tubing available.

Winter brings a wide variety of sporting of activities. Cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling on excellent trails, and ice fishing are just a few activities that are available.
